Is beauty all natural or do we think some appointments at the MedSpa are a must to reverse aging? Genetics and a healthy lifestyle certainly are the key to maintaining a youthful appearance, however supermodels like Cindy Crawford don’t always rely on those two things. Crawford is just one of a number of celebrities that’s open and honest about her cosmetic treatments to preserve smooth and wrinkle-free skin.

WHAT IS CINDY CRAWFORD’S ADVICE TO AGING WELL?

Cindy Crawford admits that when she was in her early 20’s that she was indefinite about plastic surgery. However, once she began to approach her 30’s, she realized that diet, exercise, and her daily beauty regimen could only do so much. Additionally, she struggled in deciding what’s the difference between some cosmetic work that appears natural versus treatments that are overdone with frozen looking results.

Like many proponents of plastic surgery, Cindy recognizes that non-invasive treatments such as Botox have become widely accepted, but also has concerns of being “botched. Botox has become one of the most common treatments for removing fine lines for woman aging. She recommends finding a skilled and board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist to avoid adverse outcomes.

"I'm not going to lie to myself, past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your skin but, in order to restore elasticity, all I can really count on is vitamin injections, botox, and collagen," she said in 2006, at age 40.”

HOW DOES BOTOX HELP CREATE SMOOTH &  AGELESS SKIN?

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are brand names for botulinum toxin type A and are considered neuromodulators. When injected into facial muscles, Botox inhibits contraction and limits expressions (i.e. frowning or squinting) that produce wrinkles. As a result, Botox is able to smooth existing wrinkles and prevent deeper creases or new lines from forming.

Many patients that want to try Botox as an anti-aging treatment may even opt for Baby Botox, which uses smaller amounts of product that are injected more frequently than the standard dose. Baby botox is the start to “preventative Botox”.

WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME TO START BOTOX?

If you want to prevent the earliest fine lines from becoming deep skin wrinkles, preventative Botox can be the solution. Botox is approved for patients who are 18 years and older and most experts agree that patients in their mid to late 20s and early 30s are at a good age for preventative Botox treatment. The biggest advice is to find a skilled and board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist to avoid unwanted outcomes.
